"Die-t" is a poem written a few months ago about anorexia. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me earlier, but the word ‘diet’ is ‘die’ with a cross on the tail end. I constructed this poem as a comparison of anorexia to dying on the cross.

          "Die-t"

I die on the cross
Just like many other Americans
To die on the cross
is becoming America's epidemic
Especially amongst females
Hell, I've even known a few girls
who have actually died
on their die on the cross

When we die on the cross
we drive down numbers like nails
And yes, our flesh
does feel a burning
Yet the sting is most concentrated
in the abdomen and brain
To die on the cross
feels physically akin to
impalement and lobotomy
as it does to crucifixion

Our die on the cross
is a bit of a hindrance
Yet we can't help
but to be fixated on it
We are blood-bound to it
It's something we cling to
It frames us,
shapes us,
and ultimately stabilizes us
by placing skeletal structure
into our lives

All who die on the cross
yearn for skeletal structure

I like this poem it says alot.  Have you ever suffered from this die t?  Thanks for posting a comment on my site it means alot to me.  The poem i wrote wasn't actually written about a friend of mine so what has happened can never be forgiven really on her part.  I am pleased that i wrote it though and i hope that one day she will forgive me or at least forget the havoc that i caused.  For me it is more that slowly i am facing my faults and getting through them and that is the challenge i make myself every day.  Some days can be harder than others though but you just have to pull through.  I know how you feel, i really do.

I'm glad my post helped even if you didn't use the garlic thing.  Believe me i didn't find it very pleasing either but it really helped me especially when my cuts were deep and my dad got suspicious.

Anytime you need to chat just post me and i'm here.  I'll be keeping an eye on you from now on!

I wish it were mine J No...it is  "A Tune," by Authur Symons...I am struck by the poem you have written, the last two lines in particular. Haunting imagery.

All who die on the cross
yearn for skeletal structure.

You encompass the desperation of the anorexic perfectly. Just very insightful.

While I understand that anorexia is akin to self torture, this poem makes me feel uncomfortable.  It seems pointless to me to glory in an inflicted pain.  With anorexics though, i cannot understand why these certain type of people make games out of who is thinner and such.  It seems when they are put together, they worsen eachothers mental stabilities instead of helping eachother with the problem, one person wanting to be better than the other.  I guess i am wrong in some cases, but it is sad that life is wasted on a disease like that, I don't understand how any of them can have an honest friendship with anybody when they are not even truthful to themselves.  I see crystal argue with another girl constantly about how she is fatter than the other while they are both toothpicks and everyone around them finds the situation beyond ridiculous.  And cutting seems the same way, people always try to outdo the other as if to prove that their pain is more immense, believing that attention or sympathy is going to fix their problem somehow.  I am not trying to offend, but I think this whole generation is especially screwed up.  I just wish people could somehow be more closer to eachother and think beyond their own physical presences and care more about the welfare of other people.  It does not seem that these people are dying for anyone but themselves.

hi. you probably don't care for the random opinions of strangers, but i'll give mine anyway :]

i really like the imagery in the last verse (& the line about numbers like nails). but i'm also agreeing somewhat with the person above me (somewhat - 98.5% of the cutters i've met online are so 'let's-help-each-other-pro-recovery' it's annoying). after all, Christ died on the cross (supposedly..i'm no christian) to save humanity, in a very selfless act. it's supposed to suggest hope & redemption... new life and second chances, not destruction. anorexia is the opposite, even if many anorectics have become convinced otherwise.. eh, just my 2 cents. hope you don't mind.

Oh God I hate the dentist now. I am going for my 5th and final visit to finish up soon. After I went and they found all the cavities I swore I would stop. It is hard.
